There’s a new track and field club in Belleville and they got off to a good start at the 22nd Annual Thousand Islands Secondary School Pirate relays in Brockville.

Aidan Crawford of Eastside Secondary captured two gold medals in junior boys shot put and javelin.
Crawford’s toss of 16.17m in shot put is the best so far this season by anyone in the province and won the event by almost four metres. Last season’s OFSAA junior gold medal throw in shot put was 14.68 m, so to have a start like this to start the season is incredible.
In Crawford’s second, in which he is the 2022 Ontario Provincial Champion, his throw of 52.27m in javelin was 11 metres further than the second place thrower from Kingston Sydenham high school.
Nicholson’s Grace Crawford finished third in her 80-metre hurdles with a time of 14.89 seconds followed by Riley Murray of Eastside who placed sixth.
