The Physician Recruitment manager for Docs by the Bay calls a recent trip to the 30th Annual Society of Rural Physicians of Canada Conference in Niagara Falls a success.
Paula Mason attended last week’s conference to share the benefits of practising in Quinte West and Brighton.
The conference is one of the largest recruitment events in Canada and was attended by approximately 500 physicians, residents, and medical students from across the country who are interested in rural and remote medicine.
Docs by the Bay was one of approximately 100 communities looking to recruit physicians at the event.
Mason tells Quinte News she received 30 to 40 new leads, about half of which were from people very interested in this area.
She says many of the recruits are still in medical school and not quite ready to make a decision yet but that she will continue to build a relationship with many of them on their journey to residency.
Since 2017, Docs by the Bay has successfully brought 16 family physicians to the Quinte West/Brighton area.
