It’s day three of the strike by federal public service workers.
Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada hit picket lines Wednesday after the union and the government failed to reach a deal on a new collective agreement.
Locally, striking federal employees continue to picket by CFB Trenton.
There were lengthy delays for people trying to enter the base once again Friday as picketers stopped vehicles briefly before letting them through.
The union is asking for a 13.5% wage increase over four years but also wants employees to still be able to work remotely if they wish.
The Treasury Board and the CRA both say they have offered the union a nine per cent raise over three years, on the recommendation of the third-party Public Interest Commission.
Meanwhile, a First Nation in southern Ontario says five federally run schools in its community are closed today as a result of a strike by federal public service workers.
Six Nations of the Grand River says more than 1,100 students are affected.
Indigenous Services Canada says all federally operated schools in First Nations communities in Ontario will be closed during the labour disruption.
