The City of Quinte West has announced that garbage bag tags will increase to $3 each effective Thursday.
City council approved the increase at its meeting on Wednesday.
Bag tags that were purchased before April 6 at $2.50 will not expire and can still be used.

The city says that the annual total cost for garbage, recycling and organics collection and disposal in Quinte West is
$3.5 million.
Property taxes pay 40%, or $1.4 million, of the total cost with the rest funded through the garbage bag tags.
