The City of Belleville’s Planning Committee is asking staff for a recommendation report on a proposed subdivision east of Wilson Avenue.
The current vacant land would have 82 homes and 71 townhouses for a total of 153 units if approved.
A presentation was outlined to the committee by Kevin Bechard of Innovative Planning Solutions, the agent for the project.
Outlined were the benefits of the project including a concept of the development for the area.
Multiple members of the public expressed their support for the project.
“I’m absolutely floored that this property has not been developed before this,” resident Bob Scott told the committee.
“We’d like to see that development happen as quick as possible. I think it’s good for the city. I think it’s good for the tax element of things and we need this town to grow.”
Another resident also expressed their support for the new subdivision but also had one concern.
“Is there an entrance way off Palmer to this new subdivision because you’re going to need traffic lights at Palmer and Moira with the increased amount of traffic,” resident William Noble asked the committee.
A recommendation report will be put together to be presented at a future committee meeting.
