The King Edward Arena in Brighton has a new future ahead, and a new roof.
Plans were laid in early 2022 to replace the roof on the arena building after a leak was discovered.
Local MPP David Piccini, along with Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander and several members of council celebrated the completion of the project.
Funded by a $410,000 grant from the Ontario government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, a new roof has been installed and is now leak free.
Mayor Ostrander expressed gratitude to the Trillium Foundation and the provincial government for the funding that allowed the roof to be replaced.
“We are grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the grant that allowed us to complete this roofing project. This investment will allow our Community Centre and arena to continue to be a hub in Brighton for years to come. We continue to nurture our partnerships across levels of government on behalf of the citizens of Brighton and are thankful for our municipal staff for bringing projects like this to completion.”
The leak that prompted the roof’s replacement was originally found in 2020.
