(Dukes captain Jacob Vreugdenhil scores the hat trick against Caledon)
The Wellington Dukes have moved into second place in the OJHL’s South-East Conference but not without learning a valuable lesson along the way.
Despite holding a 6-2 third period lead on home ice the Dukes watched Caledon battle back to force overtime. In fact double-time.
Thanks to captain Jacob Vreugdenhil’s third goal of the game Wellington prevailed 8-7 over the visiting Admirals. Vreugdenhil has scored 27 goals this season.
Barrett Joynt chipped in a pair (23) with singles from Ryan Cutler (5), David Campbell (17) and Matheson Mason (14).
Wellington outshot Caledon 44-33.
The win pushed the Dukes one point ahead of the Haliburton Huskies into second place with four games left in the regular season.
Wellington is in Lindsay on Friday night.
