It’s official.
Quinte West council has appointed former councillor and mayoral candidate Karen Sharpe to take the Sidney Ward seat left vacant by the death of Terry Cassidy.
She officially takes office today (Monday February 13).
Her appointment did not come without controversy with some on council and some residents believing the person who finished just out of the running in October’s municipal election, former councillor Al Dewitt, should have been appointed.
Sharpe had run for the mayor’s job in that election, losing to Jim Harrison.
