Northumberland County council has approved the budget for this year.
The base levy will go up by 4.9% while the dedicated infrastructure levy will increase by 1.1%.
Northumberland’s total budget will be $213.5 million however local taxpayers will only be responsible for
one third of that total, just over $68 million.
County Warden Mandy Martin says council wanted the base levy increase to be lower than the rate of inflation and that was accomplished with the levy increase at just under 5%.
