The newest trustee on the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board will be no stranger to most people in the Quinte region.
At its meeting Monday the Board of Trustees announced that Ernie Parsons will be the trustee for Quinte West’s Sidney and Frankford wards.
Parsons is replacing Kristen Parks who resigned the seat for personal reasons shortly after last October’s municipal election.
Parsons, 76, served many years on the former Hastings County Board of Education and on the board of the Hastings County Children’s Aid Society.
From 1999 until 2007 he was a Liberal MPP representing the former Prince Edward-Hastings riding.
Parsons was selected following an application process and subsequent interviews with a “slate of strong candidates.”
