As the Wellington Dukes hunt for second place in the OJHL’s South-East Conference it was Madoc native Connor Hunt who helped move them to within one point.
Hunt’s hat trick (15) which included two goals in the final 9:37 of the third helped Wellington knock off the North York Rangers 4-1.
Corbin Roach added a single and Ethan Morrow stopped 24 shots.
The Dukes have won four in a row and move one point behind second place Haliburton. Wellington is home to Mississauga on Friday night, then they travel to Haliburton for a head-to-head tilt with the Huskies on Saturday.
Jets 4 Rebels 2
In Junior C play, Matthew Donovan scored twice including the winner at 7:43 of the third period to lead the Amherstview Jets over the Campbellford Rebels 4-2.
Campbellford goaltender Brayden Friedrich kept his team in the game as the Jets outshot the Rebels 49-24.
