Quinte West OPP have charged a driver of a transport truck after an investigation into a collision on Highway 401 that occurred early Wednesday morning in Trenton.
Police were called to a serious collision on Hwy 401 between County Road 40 and County Road 33 at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Reports indicated to police that a transport truck was westbound on the highway and collided with a barrier, causing the truck to catch fire.
Heavy debris from its cargo covered the eastbound and westbound lanes.
A second collision was reported after another transport truck collided with the debris on the highway.
No injuries were reported in either collision.
The highway was reopened at 11:45 a.m.
A 58-year-old man from Downsview has been charged with careless driving under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
