A swearing-in ceremony was held Tuesday for the newest officer with the Belleville Police Service.
Constable Aaron Wentzell, who is originally from the area, was sworn in at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse during a ceremony presided over by Justice Stephen Hunter.
Constable Wentzell is a gradate of Ontario Tech University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in which he majored in Criminology and Justice Studies, and minored in Forensic Psychology.
He previously studied at Durham College where he obtained his Police Foundations Diploma.
He was hired by the Ottawa Police Service as a Police Constable in 2016.
Over the years he has volunteered with various organizations including Ottawa Police Blues Football Club, Belleville Youth Soccer Club and the Re-Store with Oshawa and Belleville.
Constable Wentzell and his family have decided to relocate to the area to be closer to family and plant their roots.
