Reeve Kennelly Inaugural Address
First, I would like to acknowledge our families, friends and guests for joining us on such a special night. It is truly an honour and a privilege to stand before you tonight as your new Reeve. A personal thank you to Piper James Gendron who led the procession for tonight’s inaugural ceremony – marking an occasion for much celebration. Of course, a thank you to our Township Staff that made tonight possible, including our CAO Carla Preston and Clerk Yvonne Murphy and thank you to ALL Township Staff for their continued dedication, as well as their guidance.
I would like to remember the efforts of previous members of council and staff for establishing the building blocks of our Township. Building blocks that have provided a foundation for future development of an even stronger, growing community and Township.
It is rightly said, if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together. Our shared vision for a safe, healthy and affordable Township will be achieved by working together to solve the challenges in front of us while using our momentum to move Tyendinaga forward with sound decision making, integrity, accountability and transparency.
Our Township needs our Reeve, Council and Township Staff to continue to work together as a team – one that delivers results for our residents. From conversations I’ve held with fellow Councillors and Staff, I know that we can do this together. I truly believe that the best days are yet to come, we just need to let them happen.
I’m excited for the opportunity to continue to serve my community. It is a privilege and an honour to serve our community as your Reeve along with Deputy Reeve Lang, Councillor McFarlane, Councillor Ogden, and Councillor Phillips. It’s going to be a great four years, thank you so much for being here tonight.
