Friday is Remembrance Day, a day to pay our respects to the thousands of Canadian men and women who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms.
Remembrance Day services will be held in several communities in our listening area.
Belleville’s will be held at the cenotaph beginning around 10:45 Friday morning. Receptions will follow the service at the Belleville Royal Canadian Legion Branch 99 and the ANAF Veterans unit 201.
In Prince Edward County, there will be three ceremonies. The service in Wellington will begin at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning at the Wellington United Church, moving over to the cenotaph in Wellington Park.
Picton’s ceremony will begin at the Picton War Memorial/Cenotaph on Main Street at 11 a.m. while the Consecon ceremony starts at 10:45 at the Legion/Cenotaph on County Road 29.
CJBQ will broadcast the Trenton ceremony from the cenotaph at Fraser Park Drive and Quinte Street, also starting around 10:45.
There will also be a candlelight vigil at the Trenton Cenotaph Thursday evening. Ceremony participants for the vigil are asked to meet at the Trenton Legion at 6:30 p.m. with the walk to the cenotaph to begin at 6:45 p.m.
Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Frankford and Stirling Cenotaphs begin at 10:45 a.m. Friday.
In Brighton, the parade will leave from the Legion at 10:45 with the ceremony at the cenotaph to start at approximately 10:50, followed by lunch and refreshments at the Legion.
There will be a parade from the Campbellford Legion gathering at 10:30 for the march to the cenotaph with the ceremony to begin just before 11 a.m. A light lunch to follow at the Legion.
Tyendinaga Township will hold a brief Remembrance Day Ceremony in at the Municipal Office in Shannonville at 10:45 a.m.
Deseronto will also have a parade meeting at the Legion at 10:30 which will make its way to the cenotaph for a 10:45 a.m. service. A light lunch to follow at the Legion.
The service at the Madoc Cenotpah at Thompson Park begins at 10:45 a.m., also with a light lunch at the Legion after.
Tweed‘s ceremony begins at 10:45 at the cenotaph at Tweed Memorial Park.
