The visiting Toronto Marlies claimed a 5-2 victory over the Belleville Senators at CAA arena on Saturday.
Angus Crookshank and Scott Sabourin scored for the Senators.
The Marlies claimed the first goal in the first period and kept the lead the entire game. The Senators were often one point behind through the first and second periods, but were unable to tie the game before the Marlies claimed two more unanswered goals in the third period to secure their victory.
Belleville Senators head coach Troy Mann said he thought the Senators were improving as the night went on.
“There were times during the game where we played to what we feel needs to be our identity, but they’re very opportunistic in terms of some of their chances of the rush. I thought our game got better as it progressed,” said Mann.
The Senators play again on Friday, when they travel to Syracuse.
