Belleville police say a loaded firearm, cocaine, and cash were seized after a drug trafficking investigation called Project Renewal.
Police say they conducted a high-risk motor vehicle stop in Quinte West on Wednesday.
The Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Team, K9 Unit and members of the Quinte West OPP helped with the investigation.
Two males were taken into custody, with a subsequent residential search warrant conducted at a home in Whitby.
Twenty-five-year-old Jonathan Pileggi of Whitby, Ont. was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Proceeds of Crime over $5000
- Firearm Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing the Serial Number has Been Tampered With
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
Pileggi was held for a bail hearing on Thursday.
Twenty-year-old Chanel Bolgan of Whitby, Ont. was charged with the following:
Bolgan was released and has a scheduled court appearance for Aug. 8, 2022.
A third male, 27-year-old Jason Burningham of Carrying Place, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Proceeds of Crime over $5000.
Burningham was also released and scheduled for a court appearance for Aug. 8, 2022.
