Three illustrated concepts for the revitalization of Wellington Rotary Beach will be presented for public comment on Thursday, May 19.
Members of the public are invited to drop by the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to view the concepts and provide input and feedback on the designs.
The concepts will have been co-created earlier in the day by a wide variety of stakeholders including beach advocates and representatives from various organizations, groups, and the community. The stakeholders will be assisted in their work by municipal staff and a team of designers from The Planning Partnership, a landscape architecture firm retained for this project.
Following the design workshop and open house on May 19, the illustrated concepts will be posted on the County’s online engagement platform, Have Your Say, for further comment and feedback.
This project is being led by the Wellington Waterfront Task Team, which was formed in the spring of 2022 at the request of Council and the Community and Economic Development Commission. The objective of the project is to develop a revitalization plan that addresses the identified challenges, such as parking, pedestrian access, accessibility, outdated amenities and more.
The concepts developed on May 19 will be used to inform a longer-term plan for Wellington Rotary Beach, which can then be used to seek funding for capital projects and beach improvements.
