Five weeks into its West City Honda Corporate Challenge, the It Takes Heart Capital Campaign has raised $46,200 from local businesses, putting it close to halfway to its goal of $100,000 which will be matched by West City Honda.
The largest portion of funds raised to date came from Belmont Long Term Care Facility owner David Clegg, who donated $25,000 to the Corporate Challenge.
“I’m excited to be able to support such an amazing cause. The Humane Society is so important to a community but sometimes gets overlooked and it’s great that is starting to change,” said Clegg.
Other donations include $10,000 from Ontario Truss & Wall (Andrew Bryden), $10,000 from Reid’s Dairy (Stephen Quickert), $1,000 from Impacto Protective Products (Eric Lehtinen) and $200 from You Make Me Smile Dental Centre.
“From day one, we have been so impressed by the generosity of local industries and business owners,” said Greg Sudds, Chair of the It Takes Heart Capital Campaign Committee and President/General Manager of West City Honda. “I think we all recognize that the new HSHPE Centre will be a vital community asset. We look forward to raising the full $100,000 in the next weeks and matching that with $100,000 from West City Honda.”
The Corporate Challenge has been assisted by the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, who launched a Chamber Charity Challenge to encourage members to support several local charities to meet their fundraising goals. Two of the supporters of the West City Honda Corporate Challenge, Stephen Quickert/Reid’s Dairy and Eric Lehtinen/Impacto Protective Products are Belleville Chamber members.
“The Chamber Charity Challenge came at a great time for HSHPE and our Capital Campaign efforts. This is a wonderful Chamber initiative that is supporting some very worthwhile community charities,” said JC D’Amour, It Takes Heart Capital Campaign Manager.
The West City Honda Corporate Challenge is part of the It Takes Heart Capital Campaign to fund the building of a new Animal Care and Community Education Centre for Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward. The centre, currently under construction at 34 Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in Belleville, is expected to be ready to welcome staff and animals in the summer of 2022 and will serve the communities of Belleville, Quinte West, Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
