After taking an early 2-0 first period lead the Trenton Golden Hawks might have been thinking about going to round two of the OJHL playoffs. Instead they’re going home for the deciding game in their best of three with Haliburton County.
Dalton Bancroft and Justin Mauro put Trenton in front 2-0 before the game was four minutes old. However, the Huskies battled back.
Lucas Stevenson scored the tying goal in the second period and winning goal midway in the third. Haliburton rallied for a 3-2 win to knot their best of three OJHL series at one.
Trenton Coach Peter Goulet didn’t like the way his team played after taking the lead.
Dalton Bancroft and Justin Mauro scored for the G-Hawks.
The deciding game is tonight at 7:30 in Trenton. The winner takes on the Cobourg Cougars in round two.
Napanee routs Jets
In Amherstview last night the Napanee Raiders unleashed their offence scoring four times in the third period to rout the Jets 8-1. Soren Zamuner scored twice for Napanee as they take a 3-2 lead in their best of seven Junior C series. The Raiders can wrap it up at home tomorrow (Friday) night at the Strathcona Paper Centre.
