A veteran and well-known politician will be in Belleville today.
Jean Charest, one of six official candidates for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, will be at Boston Pizza from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock to meet party members and the public.
Charest has been a federal Progressive Conservative Deputy Prime Minister, cabinet minister and party leader and also served as the Liberal Premier of Quebec from 2003 until 2012.
Over the weekend, Charest ripped into the race’s perceived front-runner Pierre Poilievre, saying he wasn’t fit to be a leader of a party or Prime Minister because of his support for the anti-vaccine and anti-government Freedom Convoy.
The Conservative’s new leader will be chosen September 10.
