The number of new high risk COVID-19 cases locally is down from Friday, but the number of hospitalizations and outbreaks are trending upwards.
The Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Unit is reporting 148 new cases today, for a total of 469 confirmed active cases in the two counties. Limited access to PCR testing means the numbers reported by the health unit may not accurately reflect COVID-19 case counts.
There are now 21 people in hospital and four in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On Friday, there were 18 people in hospital and three in the ICU.
The number of outbreaks in high-risk settings has increased to 18, up from 14 on Friday.
Statistics regarding vaccine shots and booster shots remains unchanged locally. Third-dose boosters have been administered to 89,636 residents and 83% of those aged five and up are fully vaccinated.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit is reporting 36 new high-risk cases in Northumberland.
There are 126 active cases.
