The Chief of Police and the Belleville’s Police Services Board have commended several of the service’s tactical officers.
Those specialized officers were sent to the nation’s capitol to clear the recent lengthy and large truckers’ protest on Parliament Hill.
Belleville Police Chief Mike Callaghan said he was very proud of the officers’ professionalism and self-restraint as they worked under very difficult circumstances.
Board Chair Jack Miller added that the costs to have the officers serve in Ottawa were being picked up by the Ottawa Police Service and that there was no reduction in police service locally while they were away.
