Belleville City Council will discuss granting heritage status to a Moira Street East home at its meeting on Monday.
Heritage Belleville recommends the inclusion of 68 Moira Street East in Belleville’s Heritage Register.
A Cultural Heritage Evaluation Report has identified the home as a unique dwelling that is an example of a Loyalist style stone building adapted for use as a residence.
The property also has associations with several of Belleville’s early families and business owners, including direct connections with Tobias Bleeker, Jane (Bleeker) and Ellis Burrell.
If there are no objections to the designation, council with authorize the City Clerk to introduce a by–law designating the property under the Ontario Heritage Act.
Council meets Monday at 4 p.m.
