Belleville police responded to 97 calls for service over a 72-hour period beginning at 5 a.m. on February 26, 2022 to 5 a.m. on February 28, 2022.
Theft and Mischief
Belleville police are seeking the public’s assistance regarding a mischief and theft that occurred at Zwick’s Park, on February 25, 2022 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. On that date an unknown suspect damaged and stole items from a parked vehicle. Motor Vehicle Collision
On February 25, 2022 at 10:42 a.m., Belleville police attended the lower end of North Front Street Belleville regarding a three-vehicle collision that damaged a hydro pole. The roadway between Evans Street to Grove Street was closed for a short period of time while Belleville Fire, Belleville Police, Hastings/Prince Edward Paramedics, Belleville Public Works and hydro utility workers dealt with the incident. One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The at-fault driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
Fail to Comply, Trafficking and Proceeds of Crime
On February 26, 2022, at 9:45 p.m., Belleville police conducted a traffic stop in the west end of the city. Upon investigating the driver, it was discovered that he was breaching a condition of a release order to remain in his residence every night. The driver was arrested and a quantity of drugs and cash was located in the vehicle. As a result, the male driver, Dylano Williams, a 22-year-old resident of Toronto and the female passenger, 20-year-old Nyesha Durrant, of Toronto were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime. Durrant was released with a court date of March 21, 2022, and Williams was held for a show cause hearing on February 27, 2022. Williams was additionally charged with fail to comply with a release order.
Arrested on Warrants
On February 27, 2022 the Belleville Police Service was contacted by the Quinte West OPP who advised that they had arrested a female who was wanted on outstanding warrants by Belleville Police Service for mischief and two counts of failing to attend for finger prints. As a result, 37-year-old Theresa Kelleher of no fixed address was transported to Belleville Police Service and held for a bail hearing on February 28, 2022.
Breach of Release Order
On February 27, 2022 at 9:49 a.m., Belleville Police Service received a call regarding a male breaching his release conditions by not remaining with his surety. Police initially were not able to located the male however later received information of his whereabouts. At 3:57 p.m., the male was taken into custody without incident and transported to Belleville Police Service. The male was charged for breaching his release conditions and held for a bail hearing on February 28, 2022. As the breach charges are domesti- related, his name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
