Hastings Lennox & Addington MPP Daryl Kramp will not seek re-election in June.
In a statement issued Friday evening Kramp said the announcement comes with mixed emotions and was not made lightly.
He says for health and family reasons it is time to start a new chapter in his life.
Last year he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of sinus cancer which required surgery.
Kramp previously served as a Member of Parliament in the former Prince Edward-Hastings riding and was a municipal councillor and deputy reeve in Madoc.
Below is the announcement issued by MPP Kramp:
Special announcement from H-L&A MPP Daryl Kramp
Friends,
Over the past 20 years I have had the privilege and honour to represent your interests and views at Municipal, Provincial and Federal levels of government.
Today, it is with mixed emotions I announce I will not be a Candidate in the Provincial Election in June.
This decision was not made lightly or in haste. For both health, and family reasons, I believe it is time to start a new chapter in my life.
To that end, I will work to ensure you have a representative who will continue to promote and serve the good citizens of Hastings-Lennox and Addington and the Province of Ontario.
Thank you to Premier Ford for his leadership and to my colleagues who I have served as Government Caucus Chair since July 2018.
Special thanks to all the individuals and communities who have provided input and feedback that has enabled us to deliver unprecedented results for our riding and Province since 2018.
In closing, thank you to my team – your tireless efforts to assist constituents with a multitude of issues was second to none. To my FAMILY – THANK YOU – you have always inspired me, and to each and every citizen and community I have served – THANK YOU for the honour and privilege to do so.
So – Onward and Upward – Together we have, can, and will make the world a little better place.
Thank you and God Bless.
