Picton’s Lloyd Crowe has been in downtown Ottawa since the convoy protest against COVID-19 mandates began three weeks ago.
His vehicle is parked a few blocks away from where police continue to push back crowds.
Crowe told Quinte News Friday afternoon that he has told police he is willing to leave if he can be escorted out as leaving is proving difficult for some.
Still, Crowe says being there has been worth it to fight for freedoms he says are being lost.
He says the demonstrators are determined.
Even as police moved across the downtown Friday, Crowe says many people in the area remained upbeat.
Crowe says he stopped by a pig roast near where his truck is parked.
Police began their operation against the convoy protest Thursday night.
Interim Chief of the Ottawa Police, Steve Bell, says as of 3 p.m. eastern Friday police had arrested 70 people and charged them with multiple offences, including mischief.
