An new initiative for the City of Quinte West has been well received.
Mayor Jim Harrision says the warming centre has been well used this winter so far.
“If it’s not at capacity it’s really close to, or over capacity. It’s well used.”
He says the city is working with Hastings County as this is a need that isn’t going away any time soon.
“Devise a plan that will work in future years because we know that this is not going away and we have to be a good partner in trying to look after people and look after their needs. Certainly a place to sleep and be warm and comfortable is absolutely necessary.”
A staff report will be coming forward to council at a future date with details about the warming centre’s use this winter.
