Monday’s multiple power outages, with some affecting west end Belleville residents for around seven hours, originated at a Hydro One transformer station which subsequently caused a problem at Elexicon Energy’s Harder Drive substation.
Elexicon managed to isolate the Harder Drive substation and power was brought back to all urban residents by 9 o’clock at night.
Power was restored in a section-by-section manner to avoid a sudden overload of the system.
At its height, around 1:30 in the afternoon, about 18,000 Hydro One and Elexicon customers were affected by the power outages.
Elexicon personnel continue to evaluate the situation at the Harder substation.
