COVID-19 was naturally the main focus of the federal government in 2021 and continues to be.
Former MP for Bay of Quinte riding Neil Ellis says his government worked hard to first get vaccines into people’s arms.
The second priority was financial help.
“As COVID hit, support for small businesses and people who lost their jobs were our main concern over the winter.”
Meanwhile Ellis says other important issues were dealt with closer to home.
“In the riding here we had such issues as affordable housing on which we delivered many units, high speed internet improvements and perhaps the crowning achievement was the granting of $8.9 million for a new YMCA (in Belleville) that was announced in July.”
