Wellington 6 Caledon 2
The Wellington Dukes have moved into sole possession of second place in the OJHL’s East Division thanks to a 6-2 win over the Admirals in Caledon last night.
Wellington built a 6-0 lead before two late goals by Caledon.
Emmet Pierce scored twice while Jonathan Balah added a goal and two assists. Corbin Roach, Harrison Ballard and Jaxen Boyer also scored in the win.
The Dukes moved two points ahead of third place Haliburton County which sets up tomorrow (Saturday) night’s road game against the Huskies.
Tonight the first place Trenton Golden Hawks host the Cobourg Cougars at 7:30.
Pirates blank Huskies
In Junior C hockey the Picton Pirates shut out the Frankford Huskies 4-0 to move into a third place tie with Port Hope in the Tod Division.
Owen Dever scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season. Landon McLellan had three assists and Nolan Lane turned aside 30 shots for his first shutout.
Tonight (Friday) it’s a first place showdown in Napanee as the Raiders host the Amherstview Jets at 7:30. These teams are tied with 30 points.
And Port Hope is in Campbellford to face the Rebels at 7:30.
B-Sens begin four-game road trip
If the Belleville Senators are to break their season high three-game losing streak they’ll have to do it on the road.
The B-Sens begin a four-game road trip tonight against the Providence Bruins in Rhode Island. Belleville has scored just one goal during their three-game skid as they fall into sixth place in the AHL’s North Division.
The Bruins are in third place in the Atlantic Division with an 8-5-3-1 record.
CJBQ will have the play by play for MacKay Insurance and Deerhaven Farm and Garden at 6:50.
The B-Sens will be in Bridgeport to face the Islanders on Sunday afternoon at 3.
