It was another exciting night for local hockey in the Bay of Quinte as local teams of various levels charge towards the holiday break.
The Wellington Dukes were in action on the road against the Toronto Patriots, who were 24 hours removed from a loss to the Trenton Golden Hawks.
The Dukes pressed on the gas early in this matchup and never looked back.
Mason Reeves, Jacob Vreugdenhil, Jonathan Balah and Emmet Pierce all scored in the first period, the latter two on the power play, and it didn’t end there for the Dukes.
In the second it was Brodie McDougall and Barrett Joynt who extended the lead to five and before the end of the frame Pierce added his second of the game for good measure.
In the final period of a completely dominant win for the Dukes, Jaxen Boyer scored to ice an 8-0 win.
Newly acquired Carter Tahk, who played with the Cobourg Cougars earlier this season, managed a 31 save shutout in his Dukes debut.
Next for Wellington is a date with the Lindsay Muskies on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Meantime there were multiple local teams in action in the Junior C. PJHL Saturday.
The Campbellford Rebels scored a shorthanded goal with six seconds on the clock to pull out an 8-7 win over the Picton Pirates in a wild back-and-forth affair.
Elsewhere the Frankford Huskies fell to the Napanee Raiders by a score of 7-2.
