A bigger and better Belleville Festival of Lights is set to go for the holiday season.
Wednesday afternoon members of city council, sponsors, and volunteers took part in the
ceremonial lighting of a stately 25 foot spruce tree in Market Square to officially launch the festival.
Thanks to the generosity of many donors $34,000 was raised for the holiday displays this year
and the chair of the city’s Festival of Lights Committee says people will be able to see more than ever
this season.
“It’ll be in Jane Forrester Park, south Foster park, along the Keegan Parkway to Herchimer, it’s supported by the City of Belleville and it’s about 5 km long this year. It’s going to be a great way for the family to connect and enjoy the festive season”
The Festival of Lights begins Friday and runs until January 2. Meanwhile the Belleville Santa Claus Parade goes this Sunday starting at 4:30 at the fairgrounds.
