As the nature of how and when and where we work continues to evolve, a new co-working space has opened up in downtown Belleville.
Fokus, which officially opened Thursday at 233 Front Street, is a hub for individuals and teams to work, featuring free WiFi, a telephone booth, meeting space, lounges and collaboration areas.
On Thursday owners Curtis and Mark Vreugdenhil and Manager Alexandra Bell were joined by Mayor Mitch Panciuk, Councillor Garnet Thompson, Councillor Carol Feeney from The City of Belleville, Jill Raycroft from the Belleville Chamber of Commerce and Luisa Sorrentino from the Downtown District BIA for an official ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony.
Curtis Vreugdenhil says with COVID changing the face of workforces everywhere, and more people moving to freelance and alternative work arrangements, Fokus offers a place to do business without the traditional pressures of a brick and mortar operation.
Curtis and Mark have also been operating their other company, Three Hills Engineering Ltd., in the Downtown District since 2020 and are located above Fokus.
Space can be rented by the day, week or month and there are also options for renting out the whole unit for larger meetings or events.
