The construction of a new Catharine Street footbridge over the Moira River is progressing well.
By the end of November it’s expected all of the substructure, or the base of the two-lane bridge will be completed.
And work on the superstructure, meaning the deck and perhaps the arches, should get underway in December.
City of Belleville officials say the project is ahead of schedule to this point but that could change depending on the weather.
Under the contract the footbridge should be finished by September of next year.
The project’s budget is $3.9 million, including design, management, actual construction, and landscaping.
