There is a new candidate in the Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding, with a familiar last name.
Jennifer Sloan, wife of current MP Derek Sloan, has announced she will run as an Independent candidate.
She says she will fight against those selling people out and will speak out on behalf of constituents.
Derek Sloan announced earlier this month he will run in the riding of Banff-Airdrie, riding of the Chief Opposition Whip Blake Richards. He is an Independent candidate
He has applied to create a new party, the True North Party, however it has not received Elections Canada approval in time for next month’s election.
Former MP Mike Bossio is the riding’s Liberal candidate, for the Conservatives it is Shelby Kramp-Neuman.

I am Jennifer Sloan, and I am pleased to announce I will be running as an Independent Candidate to become the next Member of Parliament for Hastings-Lennox & Addington. Why run as an independent? Because instead of going along with the business-as-usual attitude in Ottawa that has placed Canada’s best interests behind so many other agendas, I will fight against those selling us out. There are many other important issues to discuss this campaign, and I look forward to hearing from citizens about what matters to them the most.
I will always stand up and speak out on behalf of constituents and all Canadians who believe their votes elect Members of Parliament to go to Ottawa to make a real difference – as opposed to whatever the “party line” might be. Many across our community feel that it is vital we send a person with real, independent fighting spirit to Ottawa to stand up for the things we all hold sacred, like our families; our communities; and ultimately the truth, when nobody else will fight for us. We have been placed under attack by the Prime Minister and his regressive policies; and we have been taken for granted and ridiculed by the Conservative Party of Canada. That is why my Independent candidacy is a welcome entrance to this race in Hastings-Lennox & Addington.
I believe that embracing Canadian values makes us stronger as a Nation; and by doing so we can help put this great Nation back on the right track. None of the other candidates in this race will do that. I come from humble, honest roots and I am here for one reason only: to serve my community.
God willing, Canada will always be the True North, Strong and Free. I will always stand up for our rights and freedoms, for our future prosperity and for the blessed opportunities we want to see our sons & daughters and grandchildren all endowed with; I am asking the people of Hastings-Lennox & Addington to support me in this important battle for democracy and freedom.
