Some new signage could be going up around Belleville, providing information on emergency housing and other social services and supports for residents.
City staff took input from various community agencies and stakeholders, who provided feedback on what information should be included on the signs and where they should be located.
The signs will share the contact info for Emergency Housing Hastings County, Kids Help Phone, the QHC Crisis Intervention Centre and Addictions and Mental Health Services HPE, with an initial batch of 15 signs to be installed around the downtown core, transit terminal, some bus shelters, city trails, Zwick’s Park and other areas as needed.
Staff say the signs will cost about $80 each, but sticker signs can also be used in some areas and will cost significantly less.
Council will make its decision on Monday afternoon when it meets at City Hall.
