Members of 8 Wing Trenton’s Deputy Wing Commander Branch welcomed their new Deputy Wing Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Audrey Lavoie during a ceremony held at 8 Wing Trenton today.
LCol Audrey Lavoie assumes her position from LCol Jennifer Kennedy. Native of Chicoutimi, Quebec, LCol Lavoie joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2002 as part of the Regular Officer Training Program. She completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Assigned to 3 Wing Bagotville in the summer of 2005, she held a number of positions before being posted in the summer of 2010 to Kingston, Ontario, in the Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment. As the Regimental Comptroller, and was also the Acting Regimental Administration Officer for almost a year.
In 2014, she was promoted to Major and assigned to 2 Wing where she was employed as A1. From 2015 to 2018, she was appointed Commander of 2 Wing Headquarters where she was responsible for all administrative support and personnel services for the Royal Canadian Air Force Expeditionary Formation.
Promoted to her current rank in 2019, LCol Lavoie provided logistical support for the Canadian Forces Recruitment Group (CFRG) as Senior Staff Officer Support at their Headquarters located in Borden, Ontario. She oversaw the areas of human resources, contracts and infrastructure, information technologies and finance. She also served as the CFRG Deputy Commander from September 2020 to July 2021.
Throughout her career, LCol Lavoie participated in numerous exercises and operations. She was deployed in 2008 as A1 and Adjutant in the Canadian contingent of COMKAF, the NATO Kandahar Airfield Command Headquarters in Afghanistan. She also took part in Operation NANOOK 07 in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Operation CALUMET as decompression coordinator in Madrid, Spain, in July 2016, and Operation CADENCE in Saint-Irenée, Quebec, for the G7 in June 2018.
