Toronto police say that one of their officers has been killed in the line of duty.
They say Constable Jeffrey Northrup was killed overnight in the parking garage at Toronto City Hall.
Police say the 31-year veteran of the service was intentionally struck by a vehicle after responding to a 911 call for a robbery in progress.
Another plainclothes officer was also injured and sent to hospital but she has since been released.
One suspect has been arrested and police will provide an update when charges are laid.
