The MP for the Hastings-Lennox & Addington riding says he will seek re-election.
Independent member Derek Sloan announced his intentions in a media release Wednesday.
Sloan was first elected in October 2019, when he was a member of the Conservative Party of Canada, and more recently ran for the leadership of the party.
Sloan was removed from the Conservative Caucus this past January, and since then has served as an Independent.
The H-L&A Liberal Association has selected former MP Mike Bossio, who served the riding from 2015-2019, before losing to Sloan in a tight race.
The Conservative Association for Hastings-Lennox Addington has not announced their candidate, but applications for candidates closed last Friday
