Even though the House of Commons completed their spring sitting just days ago, it appears one of the major parties is wasting no time in ramping up election preparations.
Quinte News has learned that Friday at 5:00 p.m. is the deadline to submit a completed application to be a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in the Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding.
Derek Sloan, the current MP for H-L&A was removed from the Conservative caucus and is sitting as an Independent.
Janet Fryday Dorey, Party Executive Director, says the decision was made to accelerate the nomination process, due to the imminent threat of an election.
No candidates have publicly announced their intention to apply.
Phillip Lawrence is the current MP for Northumberland-Peterborough South for the CPC, and the Candidate of Record for the Tories in the Bay of Quinte riding is Ryan Williams.
