Although there hasn’t been much news on a major project proposed for the former Belleville police station property since last year, Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Hastings continues to lay the groundwork for a housing and education hub there.
Belleville council will see information from Habitat board chair Jill Raycroft at its meeting Monday outlining efforts being made to prepare a funding application to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation that would pay for detailed planning for the project.
Habitat for Humanity has proposed a 66-unit residential building along with another building for education programs and some commercial space.
Initial costs of the project were estimated at $26 million.
