The family of a Trenton native is offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the murderer of their son.
The Staikos family, owners of a prominent local home building company, have hired an investigation firm and are offering the reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and successful prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Matthew Staikos.
On Monday, May 28, 2018, at approximately 11:30 p.m., 37-year-old Matthew Staikos was walking with a colleague in the Yorkville Avenue and Bay Street area of Toronto when he was fatally shot.
The original 911 calls reported the sound of gunshots and a man lying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses stated the shooter exited the passenger side of a silver or grey four-door Mercedes before discharging a firearm. The suspect was described as black male, approximately 5’10”, with a medium build.
CCTV footage captured images of the vehicle fleeing the scene.
Matthew, who grew up in Trenton, was a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Mechanical and Computer Engineering School and a successful businessman.
