Update: The province of Ontario has reversed its stance on the closure of splash pads and allowed for them to reopen. As a result, the City of Belleville has announced that city splash pads will reopen Sunday, May 22 at noon.
The City of Belleville has announced changes with regards to Ontario’s reopening plan.
According to a release from the city, Meyers Pier and Victoria Harbour will reopen May 29. The earlier opening date is to allow for staff training to ensure that COVID-19 restrictions are put into place and marinas will not be accepting boats before that date.
The Mary Ann Sills sports field will reopen as well as the Riverside skate park, though team sports are not permitted.
However, splash pads will all remain closed until mid-June in sticking with the province’s reopening plan.
Outdoor gathering capacity will be increased to five people including members of different households. The city is advising people to maintain physical distancing and to wear a mask wherever distancing is not possible.
