The Ministry of Labour is being called in to investigate yet another incident at a Trenton scrap yard.
Quinte West firefighters were called to Karten Metals around 2:15 p.m. today where a fire started in a compactor, with OPP also being called to the scene.
Fire Chief John Whelan tells Quinte News a worker had to be treated for smoke inhalation but nobody else was injured and a cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
It’s the third incident at the Subway Road scrap yard in the last year after similar events in September of 2020 where nobody was hurt, and this past January when one person was injured.
We’ll update the story as more details are available.
