Tweed is joining the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League.
Their application to the EOSHL was approved by the other 11 teams in the Senior “A” hockey league and the team will be operated by the municipality. The EOSHL began with four teams in 2019 and has now expanded to 12 including Deseronto, Gananoque and North Frontenac.
Tweed council approved the application last month. The new franchise hopes to be on the ice this fall. A name has not been selected yet however Tweed’s minor hockey teams are known as the Hawks.
Other teams in the league are West Carleton, Smiths Falls, North Dundas, South Grenville, Glengarry, Cornwall, Maxville and Pontiac.
