The Independent Member of Provincial Parliament for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston is in hot water again after a tweet in which he compared the province’s COVID-19 shutdown to the Holocaust.
According to Kingstonist, Randy Hillier’s tweet on April 1 prompted a response from the Centre for Jewish and Israel Affairs who said, “Lockdowns are not the Holocaust. Vaccines are not the Holocaust.”
Comments in an article from Kingstonist include Kingston and the Islands Liberal Member of Parliament Mark Gerretsen who condemned Hillier’s words saying he should be removed from office.
This is not the first time Hillier has been in the spotlight for comments he’s made. He has denounced public health measures throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019 Hillier was removed from the Progressive Conservative caucus after he made comments that Ontario Premier Doug Ford called “disrespectful comments to parents of children with autism”.
