A man has been charged with first degree murder after Belleville police found a 62-year-old woman dead with signs of trauma on Tuesday night.
Officers were called to the east end of Belleville for a wellness check shortly before 7:00 p.m. Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene but no other details were released.
Further investigation led to a 64-year-old man being arrested and charged with first degree murder. He was held for a show of cause hearing Wednesday.
Belleville Police and the coroner’s office are investigating, with an autopsy scheduled for Thursday.
No names are being released until the victim’s family is notified.
