An historic building in downtown Colborne was destroyed in a fire Friday evening.
Flames engulfed the Golden Rooster Restaurant just after 6 p.m. in what fire officials are calling a suspicious fire, according to Today’s Northumberland.
A fire, suspected to have started in the basement, quickly overtook the building. Fire crews from Cramahe, Trent Hills and Brighton fought to protect the Town Hall building next door.
There were no injuries reported and as of now, no damage estimate.
The Ontario Fire Marshal is expected to begin an investigation.
