Five players who played at least part of last season with the Belleville Senators have made Ottawa’s opening night NHL roster.
Josh Norris, Drake Batherson, Nick Paul, Christian Wolanin and Marcus Hogberg will all be in the lineup on Friday when Ottawa hosts Toronto.
Forward Colin White and defenceman Thomas Chabot are the other former Belleville players back in Ottawa again, after spending all of last season in the NHL.
Seventeen players were also assigned to Belleville on Wednesday including Filip Gustavsson, Erik Brannstrom, Christian Jaros, Alex Formenton, Logan Brown and others.

Meanwhile, former B-Sens Joey Daccord, Jonathan Aspirot and Filip Chlapik were among the six players placed on Ottawa’s taxi squad and will stay with the NHL club to cover off any injuries, or COVID-19 related absences.
The American Hockey League has set a tentative date of February 5, 2021 to begin its season, but a schedule framework has yet to be announced.
